Turban varieties are among the earliest to be harvested from the garden and should be harvested 1-2 weeks before your main season varieties. Uzbek Turban has its origins in Uzbekistan in the former Soviet Union and was introduced to America by USDA horticulturalist Richard Hannan. Turban plants are often smaller in stature and weakly bolting. After scaping, their stems remain fairly soft and pliable.
