Wild Heart Forest, Farm and Nature School is located on the Butler Farm in Woodstock, ON.  The farm sits on approximately 120 acres of agricultural and naturalized land.  The landscape features gently rolling hills and a broad creek that flows right through the middle of the property.  Large meadows provide entryways to the naturalized areas of the farm and many kilometres of footpaths follow the creek through the forest.

The woods are home to a multitude of rare and indigenous species of flora and fauna such as the Blue Flag Iris, Shagbark Hickory, Bald Eagle, Red Tailed Hawk, Snapping Turtle and Monarch Butterfly.  Wildlife sightings are common throughout the farm in the agricultural fields, the meadows and especially the woods.  Our interactions with the natural world will be rich and plentiful and will surely foster a deep and meaningful connection between our students and the land.

Our program participants will develop their problem solving skills, cooperation, critical thinking, resilience and knowledge of the natural world through inquiry based and experiential learning activities.  Some activities that the children can look forward to are tree climbing, structure building, tool use, native plant identification, creating and tending to their own garden, animal tracking, ecosystem exploration, pond and creek investigation, storytelling and community cookouts.
