Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek

from CA$2.00

Rocambole

Storage: 5-7 months

8-12 cloves per bulb

One of our favourite varieties. Farmer Tom found this variety growing “wild” in the riparian areas along Cedar Creek in Woodstock, Ontario. How the garlic found its way to growing along the creek is a mystery. Was it a garden escapee? Did a guerrilla gardener purposefully plant it amongst the trees? Did an animal transport it? Did bulbils flow down the creek during a flood? We’ll never know. This Rocambole variety can get huge in our garden and has excellent flavour. Rich and garlicky without much heat, it is great for use raw, sautéed or baked. This garlic variety is now maintained in Seeds of Diversity Canada (SODC) Great Canadian Garlic Collection. An all around excellent garlic.
