Also known as Shvelisi. This beautiful standard purple stripe is one the the prettiest hardneck garlic varieties we grow. Collected by US scientists in 1985 from the village of Shvelisi, Republic of Georgia, Chesnok is the Russian work for “garlic”. Bulbs can get large in good years. Excellent creamy texture and sweet garlicky flavour when baked. Said to be able to produce true garlic seed (TGS) under proper conditions.
