Rose de Lautrec

Rose de Lautrec

from CA$3.00

Creole

Storage: 10-12 months

10-12 cloves per bulb.

Also Known as Lautrec Pink it is the famous pink garlic which has been grown around Lautrec, France for generations. Prized by French chefs for its subtle flavour, this variety is protected by product of origin laws (hopefully we don’t get in trouble for labelling it as Rose de Lautrec). This one has started to size up in our garden but remains a small to medium sized bulb. This garlic variety is acclimatized to growing in the south of France and Creoles such as this one have a tendency to remain smaller in more northern climates. Beautiful subtle flavour, pretty pink cloves and exceptional storage make this one a must for the garden.

Creole garlic varieties do not appear to be as winter hardy as some of our other hardneck garlic varieties and may not survive more harsh winters than we get here in southwestern Ontario. Northern growers, please purchase with caution/do some research as we cannot guarantee winter survival outside of our hardiness zone. Winter protection (thick mulch) may be necessary for overwintering success. Spring planting may be the best option for Creole varieties in more northern gardens.
